Over the past decade, Guy Ritchie has favoured Excalibur and blue genies over Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. However, his vacation outside his comfort zone is over, as he marks a return to the gangster genre that made him a household name with The Gentlemen.

To mark the occasion, UNILAD sat down with two of the film’s biggest stars. We had the Oscar-winning Matthew McConaughey, most famous for his roles in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and Failure to Launch. We were also treated to the dreamboat himself, Daniel Cleaver – who also goes by the name Hugh Grant. When he walked in, pop (!) went our hearts.

If you’re looking for an insightful deep-dive into the all-star production, look no further. Seriously, look no further, as we used our time together to run through The Ten.

Alright, alright, alright, you’ve endured this introduction long enough. Expect the unexpected, though – ‘all bets are off’.

UNILAD: Matthew… You have a time machine, where’s the first place that you’re going?

Matthew: Oh! Let’s go to the death bed and have a look back – see if it all added up the way I thought it might.

Hugh: Your death bed?

Matthew: Yeah.

Hugh: Dark!

Matthew: No! Not dark [laughs].

Hugh: Do you think you’d die like a man or like a pussy?

Matthew: I think it happens in the Niger river, actually. Not with a hippo, it’d be a crocodile. I had a dream about that three times.

Hugh: Really?

Matthew: Yeah, but it wasn’t a sad dream. It was a very good dream, somehow.

Hugh: Dark and weird.

Matthew: Definitely weird.

UNILAD: Hugh… What’s something out of the ordinary you’ve been able to do because of your fame?

Hugh: Well, I mean, I’ve embarrassed myself. I had a terrible time last winter skiing, and we were in a ski restaurant, and there was some guy who kept filming me, standing there with his bloody camera filming me. I lost my temper, I had a little starry tantrum and I got up and I said: ‘Look, for god’s sake, how about some privacy?’ And he said: ‘No, no, no, look!’ On the screen it was just him watching his family skiing. So I did feel like a wanker.

UNILAD: How do you recover from that?

Hugh: No recovery.

UNILAD: Matthew… If you weren’t an actor, what do you think you’d be doing with your life?

Matthew: Conducting a symphony.

UNILAD: Can you please elaborate?

Matthew: Conducting… a symphony.

Hugh: Can you do that?

Matthew: Yeah.

Hugh: [Pauses] Bollocks. Can you?

Matthew: Yeah!

Hugh: Go on, show me.

Matthew: You have to have music. But if we have our own, [gestures] it’s just movement.

UNILAD: Did you play loads of musical instruments when you were younger?

Matthew: Yeah! Not many horns, but cello, lots of percussion, sang a bit, danced a bit – I’m kind of a song and dance guy.

UNILAD: Hugh… You have one wish and it has to be selfish. What do you wish for?

Hugh: Oh… I don’t know. To be absolutely honest, I’m desperate to go to the loo, if we could move on. That would be my dream.

UNILAD: Matthew… Whose career are you secretly jealous of?

Matthew: Jealousy of someone’s career is a bit strong. Tell you what, I really appreciate the work of Tom Hardy. I can watch anything Joaquin Phoenix does.

Hugh: What am I? Chopped liver?

Matthew: Love, actually.

Hugh: Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Matthew: I still have so much fun watching a lot of the old Nic Cage stuff.

UNILAD: Hugh… What is your strongest-held opinion?

Hugh: I have always believed that anyone who uses a leaf-blower, or compels someone else to use one, should be made to wear one up their bum for a week.

Matthew: We have a neighbour who likes to blow his leaves on the driveway early in the morning.

Hugh: I mean, what’s the point of them? The leaves are fine where they are. Yeah, I don’t like noise.

Matthew: It’s the noise, it’s not the blowing of the leaves. I don’t mind a broom.

Hugh: I say to them nastily: ‘Why don’t you use a rake or a broom, you might lose some weight?’

UNILAD: Matthew…. What’s something you’ve never admitted publicly, but you might tell me now?

Matthew: Oh gosh… I mean, one of my favourite pastimes is clipping my nails. I’ll sit down with a cocktail and a headlamp, and a really sharp, new pair of nail clippers and have a good 45-minute session with all 10 of my fingers and toes. All 20, make a full little evening of it.

Hugh: What do you do with the clippings? Do you devour them?

Matthew: I just leaf-blow them away.

UNILAD: Hugh… You’re stuck living the same day over and over. What day would it be and why?

Hugh: I’ve never had a good day.

Matthew: Have you ever had a good hour?

Hugh: When we beat Emanuel School on the last day of school, we’d never beaten those b*stards before. I’d gotten into university and we went for a drink in a really vile pub, somewhere up near Wormwood Scrubs, and I remember thinking I might be possibly be happy at this moment.

UNILAD: Matthew… Have you ever been left convinced, or at least persuaded, by a fake news story about yourself?

Matthew: No, I haven’t. But as you know when you go out, you can walk out the door and go to the same place in front of the same people you were around the day before the news came out and people just kind of look at you a bit differently, and you can pick them out like, ‘Yep, they read it.’ That’s the bugger about it, but no I wasn’t convinced.

Hugh: Which one was it?

Matthew: Hell, I don’t know.

Hugh: I’m going to Google you to death.

UNILAD: Hugh… If you had to remove one colour from the world forever, which would it be and why?

Hugh: Well, I think green should be banned – particularly lime green. Terrifying! Do you know the colour of a green Quality Street? What the hell is that all about?

Matthew: What is it about the lime green?

Hugh: It’s just terrifying, it gives me nightmares thinking about it.

The Gentleman is set to be released on January 24.

Jake Paul has been criticised for appearing at a mall being targeted by looters during Black Lives Matter protests.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer posted a video to his Instagram story believed to be taken at Fashion Square mall in Scottsdale, Arizona, where crowds gathered and began damaging the property.

Paul labelled those who had gathered as ‘f*cking idiots’ and claimed he had been tear gassed. He accused some of the rioters of pointing guns at him and moved away as a firework sparked across the pavement.

See Paul’s video here:

Protests and riots have broken out across the US following the death of George Floyd, but while Floyd’s girlfriend Courtney Ross has said riots would ‘devastate’ her late boyfriend, some members of the public are still acting in violent and damaging ways.

Though Paul dubbed the group ‘idiots’, other footage appears to show him inside the mall, where people were vandalising stores. As a result, many social media users have accused Paul of looting, believing he was taking advantage of the riots and doing damage of his own.

See the footage of Paul in the mall below:

Others have slammed Paul for attending the riots at all, arguing he is using the disturbances for his own gain.

Andrew Blue, who describes himself as a photographer and videographer for Paul, shared a post on Instagram to assure people that Paul wasn’t doing anything illegal when he joined the looters in the mall, but rather they were there to ‘document’ the situation.

He wrote:

Just for clarity, I am a videographer and my job is to document virtually everything. We were strictly documenting the situation and doing our part to use our platform to raise awareness about this horrific event and the overall injustice.

Nobody with us was looting or vandalizing, but it was certainly tragic to see and wile we understand the frustration, we don’t condone or support any behavior like that.

Jake Paul's videographer Andrew Blue defends being among riotersAndrew Blue/Instagram

Though Blue insisted they went to the scene in order to ‘raise awareness’, Paul doesn’t appear to have publicly condemned the looters in any way aside from calling them ‘f*cking idiots’.

While he has shown support for Floyd and urged people to donate to the fight for justice, he has not spoken out about why he decided to join those inside the mall.

Many people have condemned Paul for going to the scene and filming the looters, though others have stuck up for him, with one person arguing he was ‘just vlogging the situation… [and] has nothing to do with the sh*t happening there’.

Paul may use the footage taken from the mall for an upcoming YouTube video, though that remains uncertain.

Billie Eilish has condemned people using the phrase ‘All Lives Matter’ in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

A number of celebrities have spoken out following the death of Floyd, a black man who lost his life after a police officer knelt on his neck during an arrest, despite protests that he couldn’t breathe.

John Boyega, Taylor Swift, Steve Carell and Seth Rogen are among those who have used their platform to help raise awareness for the injustice and show their support of protestors, who are gathering in cities across the US to fight for black lives.

The phrase ‘Black Lives Matter’ is commonly used at the protests as activists argue against unfair and unjust treatment based on skin colour, but some people have adopted the phrase ‘All Lives Matter’, suggesting the focus should not solely be on black people.

Eilish hit back at those using the phrase ‘All Lives Matter’ in a lengthy Instagram post, in which she explained she’d wanted to ‘figure out a way to address this delicately’, but couldn’t wait any longer.

She wrote:

I have an enormous platform and I try really hard to be respectful and take time to think through what I say and and how I say it… but holy f*cking sh*t I’m just gonna start talking.

Eilish went on to say she would ‘lose her mind’ if she heard ‘one more white person say All Lives Matter’, pleading: ‘will you shut the f*ck up?’

She continued:

No one is saying your life doesn’t matter. No one is saying your life is not hard. No one is saying literally anything at all about you… all you MFs do is find a way to make everything about yourself. This is not about you. You are not in need. You are not in danger.

I WANT THINGS TO BE DIFFERENT

A post shared by BILLIE EILISH (@billieeilish) on

Eilish decided to use a metaphor to help people understand why they should accept the phrase ‘Black Lives Matter’, comparing it to if you had a friend who cut their arm.

The bad guy singer wrote:

Are you gonna wait to give all your friends a bandaid first because all arms matter? NO you’re gonna help your friend because THEY are in pain because THEY are in need because THEY ARE BLEEDING.

Eilish also addressed white privilege, pointing out that if you are white, you are ‘privileged whether you like it or not’, adding: ‘society gives you privilege just for being white’.

Her post continued:

It just lets you live your life without having to worry about surviving simply because of your skin colour. If all lives matter why are black people killed just for being black? Why are immigrants persecuted? Why are white people given opportunities that people of other races aren’t?

The slogan #blacklivesmatter does not mean that other lives don’t. It’s calling attention to the fact that society clearly thinks black lives don’t f*cking matter! And they f*cking do!

Eilish’s post was met with a lot of praise, with celebrities such as Jason Momoa, Halle Bailey, Lewis Hamilton and Zoë Kravitz supporting and thanking her for addressing the issue.

Derek Chauvin the police officer who knelt on Floyd’s neck during his arrest has since been charged with third-degree murder, though Floyd’s family believe the charges are insufficient. Protests continue throughout the US, with activists echoing Eilish’s statement: why are black people killed just for being black?

The injustice needs to stop.

Since his stint behind bars, Tekashi 6ix9ine has never been far away from the headlines, and today is no different.

In the latest of a string of bizarre stories about the rapper, fans have accused him of making out with his pet Bulldog on Instagram. I’m being deadly serious.

The musician got fans and trolls alike talking after an Instagram clip earlier in the week appeared to show him getting up close and personal with his French bulldog.

Check it out here:

Tekashi took to Instagram to upload a video explaining that the release date for his upcoming single TROLLZ music video would be pushed back until next week, on June 5.

He captioned the video:

IM SORRRRRRRYYYYYY TROLLZ JUNE 5TH NO MORE CHANGING I PROMISE.

Later in the clip, Tekashi’s French Bulldog comes over and attempts to eat what appears to be a piece of red candy out of his hand, prompting the rapper to say, ‘Papi, you can’t eat this,’ before showing the sweets into his own mouth.

But, as anyone who has dogs of their own will know, there’s not a lot they won’t do to get hold of a piece of food they’ve got their eyes on.

So, in true Bulldog fashion, Papi followed the piece of candy right over to 6ix9ine’s mouth and began chomping away at the piece left on show.

If we’re being totally honest, I think you’d be hard pushed to find any dog owner who hasn’t been in the similar situation, but with Tekashi being Tekashi, it wasn’t long before the comments section was flooded with people saying it looked as though the rapper was essentially snogging his beloved pooch.

‘So we just gonna ignore the fact that he let the dog lick him in the mouth?’ one follower commented, while another added, ‘or we not going to talk about him eating his dogs tongue?’

A third wrote:

So, nobody saw him make out with his dog? The way he letting that dog lick the inside of his mouth just don’t sit right wimme.

Another follower highlighted the filter Tekashi had used, which made his eyes blue and his lips big and red, writing, ‘First you have lip fillers and second you was making out wit your dog.’

Even 6ix9ine’s girlfriend couldn’t resist getting in on the trolling, commenting, ‘Babe, is that my lipstick you got on?’

She’s got you there, Tekashi.
