Classic Maps Returning To Modern Warfare, According To LeakActivision

Calling all Call of Duty fans: new leaks for Modern Warfare suggest players will be served a heavy dose of nostalgia with the game’s next DLC.

Since the game’s release last month, it’s exceeded all expectations – surpassing $600 million in sales during its launch weekend alone.

And now it seems players are set to get more than they bargained for with Modern Warfare‘s next downloadable content, with a new leak suggesting developers Infinity Ward are set to take players right back to the game’s roots.

As per e-sports news site Dexerto, a new leak via YouTuber ‘TheGamingRevolution’ claims many of our favourite maps from the franchise are set to return.

It’s no secret that players have long since been demanding the revival of the likes of the 1v1 arena Rust, the battlefield of Scrapyard, the claustrophobic setting of Vacant and the nostalgic scenes of Terminal.

Basically, if it turns out to be true, this could be one of the biggest leaks in the game’s history – with all maps expected to make a massive comeback in the latest iteration of Call of Duty.

Now, it’s important to note that this leak is just that – a leak – and that no official confirmation has come from the developers of the game. However, the account behind the leak is a renowned (and usually accurate) source, so it’s certainly worth bearing in mind.

Although Modern Warfare has received high praise in the week since its release, some players have been left disappointed with the multiplayer map experience – which compliments the game’s slower, more methodical approach to combat.

Instead, gamers have been asking CoD‘s developers to go back to their roots and consider what made the franchise so successful, something the leak suggests Infinity Ward will address in the next update.

The full list of leaked Modern Warfare DLC maps is as follows: Wet Work (6v6); Terminal (6v6); Crash (6v6); Vacant (6v6); Broadcast (6v6); Scrapyard (6v6); Rust (6v6 and Gunfight); Farah; Boneyard; Caged; Hook; + 4 Ground War Maps; + Gunfight 3 maps.

If the rumours are to be believed, it looks like the developers will address players’ concerns in the expected launch for the game’s first DLC pack on December 10. An early Christmas present for gamers everywhere!

However, this remains unconfirmed.

'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare' And 'Warzone' Season 4 Release Date ConfirmedActivision

‘Bravo Six… going dark.’ Season four of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone will launch next week.

With more than 60 million players diving into the chaos of Verdansk, it’s safe to say that season three of the first-person-shooter has been a titanic success across the world.

However, you don’t have long to scoop up all those sweet Battle Pass rewards for the current season. In a new trailer, Activision has revealed when exactly we’ll cross into season four, as well as a few teases of what’s to come.

You can check out the trailer below:

Most notably, Captain Price – the beloved Modern Warfare legacy character – will be made available as a playable Operator in season four, arriving on PS4, Xbox One and PC on June 3. This follows the return of Alex, another character from last year’s reboot, as an Operator in season three.

‘Something is wrong in Verdansk, they’re targetting their own… it’s bloody chaos,’ the trailer explains. Indeed, there’s some serious trouble brewing in Warzone‘s huge map, with mysteries mounting since the game’s launch in March.

There’s the howling wolves which have been getting louder and louder, ringing telephones that blurt Russian gibberish, bunkers which store nukes, and other Cold War-related items. What could all of this mean?

Many have speculated that season four could bring about a seismic change to the map, much in the same vein as Fortnite‘s semi-regular events. Whether it be devastation of a nuclear bomb or the arrival of zombies, it seems that we’ll be waiting till the fifth season before any firm answers – but you can probably expect more strange things in Verdansk until then.

In the meantime, hop onto Modern Warfare and Warzone this weekend for a Double XP event, starting Friday, May 29, at around 18:00. It comes after what’s expected to be the last update of this season – thank goodness for all of our bulking Call of Duty hard drives.

Fortunately, the most recent one wasn’t too sizeable – yet there were significant changes. In standard multiplayer, developers removed Realism Mosh Pit, Hardhat 24/7, Clean Up on Aisle 9, Reinfected Ground War, while adding Deathmatch Domination, Drop Zone, Shipment 24/7, Shoot House 24/7 and Gun Game on Gunfight Maps.

On Warzone, Plunder Quads replaced Classic BR Trios (much to my dismay, as it was a genuinely challenging mode that removed buybacks, cash, loadouts and the Gulag). Hopefully season four introduces other modes discovered in game files, such as Mo Gulag Mo Problems, Pew Pew and Non-Stop.

Season four of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone launches on June 3 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare And Warzone Double XP Event Happening TomorrowActivision

A double XP event is coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone ahead of season four’s drop.

This Friday, May 29, grab your mates and rack up those kills. This’ll probably be your last chance to complete all of Season Three’s Battle Pass tiers and ensure you achieve all the good rewards with the assistance of some extra XP, so make it count.

It’s not just one particular element that’s getting boosted – across the entirety of the weekend, it’ll be Double XP, Double Weapon XP, and Double Battle Pass tier progression for players of the mainline game and the battle royale.

The event comes after what’s expected to be the title’s last major update before Season Four kicks off next week. Modern Warfare has attracted much controversy over the past few weeks as its constant, seemingly ginormous updates clog up people’s consoles, forcing players to delete other games just to make space on their hard drives.

Fortunately, this one wasn’t too sizeable – yet there were significant changes. In standard multiplayer, developers removed Realism Mosh Pit, Hardhat 24/7, Clean Up on Aisle 9, Reinfected Ground War, while adding Deathmatch Domination, Drop Zone, Shipment 24/7, Shoot House 24/7 and Gun Game on Gunfight Maps.

Over on Warzone, Classic BR Trios has been removed (much to my dismay, as it was a genuinely challenging mode that removed buybacks, cash, loadouts and the Gulag). Instead, Plunder Quads has been added back in, much to the delight of… a few people, I guess?

As for Duos, the mode many have been craving since the game’s launch in March – I can’t fully explain how difficult it is for two people to succeed in Trios, never mind Quads – the developers assured that it’s coming – we just don’t know when.

Raven Software’s Amos Hodge told GamerGen:

We had Duos on Plunder, but I’m not sure where Duos is, we got some bugs to work out with Duos. But we’re listening to the community. So we will get to a place where we add Duos in the future.

There’s just no exact time I can give you for now, but Duos is coming. You’ve already seen in Plunder, but there are just things we gotta figure out, find the right timing and everything else.

Season Four is expected to launch on June 2 next week, with fan-favourite Captain Price returning as your next operator. For now, log on to Modern Warfare and Warzone on May 29 at around 6pm for that sweet Double XP action.

PlayStation Plus Makes Call Of Duty: WWII Free Starting TodayActivision

Take a break from Warzone and venture into history: starting today, Call of Duty: WWII is free on PlayStation Plus.

Call of Duty fever is rampant right now. Whether it’s the high-octane stress of Shipment, revisiting your teenhood woes and anger in Rust, or cruising through Verdansk with your buddies in the franchise’s recent battle royale, millions across the world are hooked.

It’s perhaps unsurprising then, that Activision is happy give up one of its titles for free in order to further dominate the market. From today onwards, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download Call of Duty: WWII absolutely free of charge.

It’s not an entirely random giveaway – the 2017 title is being rolled out early as part of PS Plus’s free games line-up for June. PlayStation has yet to reveal which other game will be free in the first few days of next month – currently, you can download Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator 19 for nothing.

Developed by Sledgehammer Games, Call of Duty: WWII marked a long-awaited return to boots-on-the-ground combat after years of boisterous, futuristic shenanigans in Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare. It was the first time we’d played through this specific period in history since World at War in 2008.

While often going for realism, there’s some pretty fun components in the game; whether it be Prop Hunt on multiplayer or its phenomenal zombie mode.

Destructoid‘s Chris Moyse described it as ‘one of the best-looking and feature-packed iterations of the franchise to date’, although conceded that while it’ll ‘please a huge contingent of its dedicated fanbase… its reliance on the status quo might be wearying for others’.

IGN‘s Miranda Sanchez wrote: ‘Whether you’re crawling through the trenches in the campaign’s D-Day landing, fighting on the competitive battlefields, or lopping off gruesome undead soldiers’ heads in Nazi Zombies, Call of Duty: WWII offers a surprisingly fast-paced and fun World War II experience.’

Call of Duty: Warzone is the current sensation, with more than 60 million players flocking to the battlefield since its launch in March. However, it’s been the subject of controversy recently, with surging updates mounting on people’s hard drives, meaning those without external storage are deleting titles just to keep the game on their consoles.

There’s also been recurring demand for a Duos mode in addition to Solos, Trios and Squads. The developers have confirmed they’re working on it, however there’s currently no date for it being rolled out.
