With Halloween just around the corner, it’s likely you’ll be planning which fancy dress outfit you’re going to wear to both impress and scare your friends – and if you’re not, get planning.

Whether it be a complicated makeup job to transform you into a terrifying clown or, if you’re anything like me and don’t do ‘scary’, you’ll probably be googling the best mermaid or alien transformations.

Whichever route you decide to go down, it’s unlikely to cause as much controversy as an Oscar Pistorius costume which is being sold in one fancy dress shop based in Luton.

Yep, that’s right. The costume encourages people to dress up as the double amputee Paralympian who shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp back in 2013.

'Blade Gunner' Halloween CostumeJokers' Masquerade

The costume, which is on sale at Jokers’ Masquerade in Luton for £22.99, includes a athletic-style green and yellow running vest and shorts, which mimics the outfit Pistorius wore at the 2012 Paralympics when he represented South Africa and came second in the 200m race.

Also included in the costume are black and silver boot covers and white knee covers, to give the impression that the person wearing the costume is an amputee. The costume has the words ‘Blade Gunner’ printed on the front, making reference to Pistorius’s nickname ‘Blade Runner’.

To further the controversy, the model is also holding a water pistol which makes reference to the 2013 murder of Pistorius’ girlfriend, South African model Reeva Steenkamp.

In the early hours of the morning on Valentine’s Day, Pistorius shot Steenkamp four times in his home in Pretoria, resulting in her death.

Pistorius admitted to shooting her through his bathroom door but claimed that he mistook her for a possible intruder. He was convicted of ‘culpable homicide’ and sentenced to five years in October 2014.

He served only one year and was released in October 2015 to serve the rest of his sentence under house arrest.

However, Pistorius’s manslaughter conviction was overturned and he was found guilty of murder, resulting in his sentence being lengthened to 13 years and five months in November 2017.

The case has been extremely controversial since day one, so people are understandably very annoyed about the prospect of people wearing this costume.

One person tweeted:

While another said:

Reeva Steenkamp had her life taken from her in horrific circumstances…and so this costume company decides to tackle ‘political correctness’ and ‘pushing boundaries’ with a costume of the man who is serving 15 years for her death. I actually have no words

The costume is categorised under the website’s ‘Bad Taste and Shocking Fancy Dress Costumes’ section, and it does include a warning to those who may take offence.

The disclaimer says:

WARNING! If you are easily offended, our Bad Taste Costumes may not be for you.

Here at Jokers’ Masquerade we decided to be a little rebellious by compiling this collection of wonderfully inappropriate costumes for adults, for those who like to push the boundaries. Our offensive fancy dress costumes are perfect for those with a black sense of humour.

So it looks like the outfit is here to stay, despite people’s clear (and in my opinion, justified) objections.

I get the whole dark humour thing but when it comes to making light of the horrific murder of an innocent young woman, I think I’ll pass and stick to my mermaid costume, ta very much.

Over the years I’ve been lucky with roommates, for the most part, but I’m well aware that sometimes living with people has its downsides.

My last roommate, for example, had a predilection for cheese singles and would frequently sneak individual slices out of the fridge during the night, leaving the plastic wrapping behind like some weird calling card.

That’s as bad as it ever got though, and as I could overlook his predilection for cheap, plastic, cheese because he never judged me for drinking during the day in my pants.

It sounds like some roommates aren’t as forgiving of each other’s quirks, however. Take this student at Chinese Culture University in Taiwan for example who demanded local police investigate her roommate for stealing her yoghurt drink.

According to Vice the unnamed woman, who lives in a house with five other women, discovered one of her $2 yoghurt drinks in a bin and freaked out, demanding the thief confess.

As you’d expect no one confessed to the petty crime and that’s when things… escalated.

The raging woman took the bottle to the closest police station and explained the situation to the police. And while you might expect the Po-Po to laugh her out of the station they actually took the case, we can only presume it was a slow police day.

The police went full CSI on this attempting to get fingerprints off the bottle, but the devilish mastermind who consumed the yoghurt had either worn gloves or the Taiwanese police were incompetent, and the couldn’t get prints off the bottle.

This left the police with only one option, genetic testing. Of course, all five of the housemates had to be tested so it ended up costing $500 but it was worth it because the thief was identified.

She is currently facing a charge of theft and the unidentified victim of this horrendous crime is vindicated.

Well, we say vindicated, they’re actually pretty unpopular with their roommates and Taiwanese taxpayers who ad to foot the bill for this ridiculously petty crap.

Tekashi69, who I’m reliably informed is a popular rapper despite looking like he’s just chomped his way through an assorted pack of Crayola, has had a sh*t 2018.

Between being arrested for an outstanding warrant (He choked a 16-year-old girl), getting robbed, shot at, and finally being arrested again for racketeering and facing a life sentence in prison, it would be tough to argue he’s not had a shocker.

So it must warm Tekashi’s (whose real name is Daniel Hernadez, which is a lovely name so we’re going to use that instead of his stage one from now on) heart as he sits in jail to know that there are still (for whatever reason) people in the world who love him.

Most notably Daniel’s girlfriend, who TMZ tell me is called Jade, who’s dyed her hair and got a tattoo to support her man while he remains in custody for the whole alleged federal racketeering thing.

Anyway, as I don’t want to write about Jade’s new tattoo I’m instead going to talk about Daniel’s legal troubles which are far more interesting.

Daniel was arrested on November 18 as part of a joint effort by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), New York Police Department (NYPD), and the Department of Homeland Security following a five-year investigation.

Daniel, along with five other men faces charges relating to racketeering, drug distribution, and conspiracy to commit murder. Daniel has pleaded not guilty to all charges and a trial’s date has been set for September 4 next year.

The rapper was denied bail, despite his attorney Lance Lazzaro offering to pay the court $750k, as well as the promise that Daniel would surrender his passport and remain on house arrest.

As such Daniel is expected to remain behind bars while he awaits trial. If he’s found guilty the rapper will face a minimum of 32 years to life imprisonment.

Daniel’s former manager Shottie (Real name Kifano Jordan) was also arrested, along with two more associates as part of the investigation.

Last month Daniel attempted to distance himself from his management with a bizarre Instagram post in which he claimed to have fired his current management team.

He said:

I am letting everybody know I cancelled my whole tour, the American dates is not happening, it’s not going down. I fired everybody in my team, I fired my manager, booking agent, PR, publicist.

Whoever is booking shows for Tekashi69 is stealing your f**king money. If you are not on the phone with me do not book that show, it’s not me.

It’s 2018, so you probably think you’ve heard every possible type of prison break there is. That is, until today.

Forget jumping out of a moving police van and forget drilling a hole in your cell wall and crawling through the sewers. Okay, maybe I’ve been watching too many movies…

Anyway, how about swapping faces so that you’re completely unrecognisable to the police? Because this is exactly what one Colombian drug lord admitted to doing recently.

Former North Valley Cartel leader Juan Carlos Ramirez Abadia — also known as ‘Chupeta’ or ‘lollipop’ – told court officials yesterday (November 29) that he altered his face to avoid arrest while on the run.

As reported by the New York Post, the former cartel leader was testifying in Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman’s Brooklyn Federal Court trial when he made the admission.

He completely restructured his face using plastic surgery, the result being that he looks unrecognisable. His mouth is larger, his jaw is wider and his cheekbones protrude.

In his testimony, he said:

I had changes done to my face. I altered the physical appearance of my jawbone, my cheekbone, my eyes, my mouth, my ears and my nose.

Ramirez said he first began hiding his true identity by paying off officials to erase any photos, fingerprints and records they had of him.

However, it was after his release from prison in the late 1980’s that he decided to have an extreme makeover and fled to Brazil.

The drug lord hid out in a ‘extravagant’ mansion, leaving only for plastic surgery appointments and midnight bike rides. He reportedly used a range of disguises while he continued his drug empire.

You can look at the end result of his surgery below:

Jose Amaral Jr worked as a security guard in the luxury Morada dos Lagos condominium, where Ramirez resided. He thought there was something odd about the man, particularly because of his constantly changing appearance.

As reported by The Guardian, Amaral said:

It wasn’t just me. All of the guards thought he was kind of mafioso. He used all these different hats. He changed his hair all the time; first it was black, then blond and then white. He had sideburns, then a moustache, and he wore dark glasses. All of the windows of his cars were blacked out.

But his life eventually caught up with him as, despite the plastic surgery and the constant disguises, Ramirez was finally caught in 2007 when his voice was recognised during a phone tap.

During his 20 years as a cartel leader, Ramirez estimated he helped import approximately 400,000 kilos of cocaine into the US.

He first began working with El Chapo in the early 1990s, with the latter telling the drug lord he wanted a bigger cut than the other drug traffickers – 40 per cent instead of 37.

And apparently he was worth it, as Ramirez recalled during his testimony a time when El Chapo had trafficked his cocaine over the border.

He said:

[The pilots] had been fed and were very happy and wanted to go back. That was one of the first times the Mexican drug traffickers delivered my cocaine that quickly.

As reported by BBC News, El Chapo is accused of being behind the Sinaloa drug cartel, which prosecutors say was the biggest supplier of drugs to the States.

The trial continues.
