I’M A Celebrity star Dennis Wise’s football career was almost cut short when he spent a night in a cell after a taxi driver brawl.

The pint-sized midfielder was arrested after the cabbie pressed charges following a furious fight in which Dennis smashed a window and grabbed him around the neck in a “furious” row.

Dennis Wise is currently in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

The dad-of-two was forced to spend a night in a cell as he faced three months in prison and revealed it was the scariest moment of his life and the hardman broke down in tears.

In his self-titled autobiography, he said: “That day I experienced the longest and most terrifying one hour and fifty minutes of my life.

“I started crying – lots.

“I see nothing wrong in owning u to that.”

The incident in 1994 occurred when he was at the peak of his career, as captain of Premier League side Chelsea.

He was stripped of the title by then manager Glenn Hoddle as a result.

Dennis, 50, explains in his autobiography the driver refused to go to Boston Manor, west London, and to move the cab.

He explained how the cabbie drove off but “suddenly braked” and he and the girl he was with both shot forward before she attempted to get out.

It was then when the driver drove forward again resulting in his lady friend being caught up in the door.

Dennis said: “I screamed at him to stop and banged on the partition window because I thought there was a real danger she would be hurt.

“The window smashed and I got him round the neck because I was so furious at what he had done.”

Dennis was initially found guilty for two counts

Dennis was later arrested and he was charged with causing criminal damage and assault.

The following day he reported for England duty when Terry Venables was manager.

Five months later on March 13 1995 he was sentenced to three months in prison after being found guilty for both counts.

Dennis was then taken to a cell but was luckily prevented from going to Brixton prison eight minutes before he was due to be taken when his lawyers won him an appeal.

His captaincy was removed following the incident

He told how he had received hate mail saying he would “be raped, beaten up and probably both” if he ended up doing time.

Dennis said: “That cell was the loneliest place on earth. It was cold. It was desolate.

“I was tearful. I was scared. I am not ashamed to admit it.

But the convictions were later overturned on appeal

“It dawns on you how lucky you are outside. I realised that I could lose everything through five minutes of madness.”

A later hearing in June saw his conviction overturned following a number of evidence coming to light.

Dennis added: “The most worrying time of my life was over.

“But I never want to go through anything like it again, and believe me, I won’t.”

Dennis is one of seven stars still in the jungle.

He has been accused of bullying broadcaster Iain Lee along with Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas for hounding him for his failures in previous tasks.

FORMER I’m A Celeb winner Vicky Pattison has offered her advice to the jungle’s newest queen Georgia Toffolo and warned her about ex-boyfriends reappearing.

Vicky, 30, won the show in 2015 and has seen her career go from strength-to-strength since, so knows only too well about what is coming 23-year-old Toff’s way.

She told The Sun Online at the launch of Ex On The Beach: Body SOS: “She will have amazing opportunities coming her way and also probably some ex’s crawling out of the woodwork.

“But I would never underestimate that girl, she’s one tough cookie and she’s savvy as well. I don’t think for a single second she is going to have the wool pulled over her eyes.

“I think we are going to see a lot more of Toff and I’m pleased of that.”

The Sun Online revealed yesterday that Toff could be following in Vicky and fellow former contestant Stacey Solomon’s footsteps to join the Loose Women panel – which the Geordie thinks is a great idea.

She said: “Loose Women would be lucky to have her, she’s a little dreamboat and she’s not afraid of an opinion.

“The show is full of strong, independent sassy women and Toff fits that bill perfectly.”

Yesterday an ITV insider told The Sun Online: “Toff was such a huge hit with I’m A Celebrity viewers thanks to her positive outlook, intelligent conversations and infectious smile.

“She could make a great guest panellist – the Made In Chelsea star’s posh personality could potentially be a great addition and provide a different dynamic.”

Meanwhile Toff and the rest of the jungle cast and crew bid farewell to Australia today as they arrived at the airport to fly back to the UK.

Taking to Instagram, Toff posted a snap of her in the airport and wrote: “I’m coming home!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 YOU DONT UNDERSTAND…HOW EXCITED I AM!!!!!!!!!!! lol”.

She captioned it: “Naughty clobber, comfort is key”.

Soon after, she shared another snap of her inflight snacks, a delicious cheeseboard, which she captioned: “Cheese again, ha”.

The 23-year-old made no secret of her love of cheese during her time in the jungle, and ordered a cheeseboard as part of her final meal.

However her epic feast left her feeling poorly on her last night in camp, with Iain Lee revealing during the final that she had been sick, along with runner up Jamie Lomas.

Thankfully there was no downside to her treat this time, as Toff continued to share how much fun she was having with her fellow campmates high in the sky with her followers.

Vanessa White also made the most of her time in first class, and shared videos of her wearing the airline’s standard issue grey pyjamas.

With a face mask on, she captioned the clip: “How did we end up here hahahahaha”.

Wandering around the first class cabin, Vanessa, 28, bumped into fellow campmate Rebekah Vardy and Toff’s mum Nicola.

After interviewing the new Queen of the Jungle on today’s show, the pair opened their envelopes revealing Holly guessed Toff while Phil had bet on Coronation Street star Jennie to win.

As they wrapped up the interview, Phil said: “You were absolutely delightful, please come and see us when you get back to London.”

Holly then exclaimed; “Oh hang on, we have to open our predictions!”

Phil then quipped: “There’s a reason Holly is doing this as she said: “Toff, you won’t believe it but day one, we wrote down who we thought was going to win and sealed them. Phil, go on, who did you pick?”

“I’ve always had an interest in politics, I just didn’t have time to do everything at once.

“I don’t know what the future holds but I want to use this and my influence to do good. I’m gonna do lots of research.”

Toff also opened up about her friendship with Stanley Jonson saying it was “love at first sight” when they met.
