A TV reporter says she is glad that surgery to remove her breast and bum implants will leave her scarred.

Glamorous Argentine TV host and talk show participant Mina Bonino says that the scars left by the removal surgery will remind her not to make such “bad decisions” in the future.

Mina claims that she found it impossible to forge a TV career as a woman without a noticeable bum and boobs.

Having now made a name for herself on show Intrusos en el Espectaculo (Intruders in the Spectacle), she says she now regrets the breast and bum operations she had at the start of her career.

She wrote on social media: “Just like that two years ago I filled my bottom with things so that I was not so thin, I also took the bad decision of having my breasts operated so that they could buy something that is not real.

“Because, unfortunately in TV, if you do not have enough breasts and bottom you cannot get anywhere.

“Now I have the chance and I decided to remove the implants because I understand that I do not have to live with anybody else other than myself.”

What is a sous chef?

The name for a sous chef comes from the french word “sous” meaning under.

This is basically the second in command in the kitchen.

Which means they take over running service when the head chef isn’t around.

As well as preparing food, they also act as the head chef’s assistant, which often includes managing the kitchen team.

What does a chef de partie do?

A chef de partie is more junior than the sous chef.

There are often many chef de parties in a kitchen, and each works in a specific section.

In bigger operations a chef de partie could have a number of other cooks working for them in their section – but in most kitchens it is them in their section on their own.

Sometimes, chef de parties are separated into their own hierarchy of “first cook”, “second cook” etc.

How are chefs ranked in a professional kitchen?

As with the military, kitchens run on discipline and respect for the chain of command.

Here are the different ranks and what they mean:

  • Executive chef – for restaurant groups there is one chef who works across all kitchens ensuring that standards are maintained and developing menus
  • Head chef – this guy runs the show on a day-to-day basis, ordering stock, planning rotas, devising menus and making sure people get their food on time during service
  • Sous chef – assistant to the head chef, helps with all the head chef’s roles as well as cooking and preparing food
  • Chef de partie – CDP – there are often many chef de parties in a kitchen, and each works in a specific section
  • Commis chef – This junior role is for a chef in training, they spend time learning about the different sections
  • Kitchen Porter – KP – the kitchen porter cleans up the dishes as quickly as possible and performs other basic tasks to keep the kitchen ticking over

But what is the bean and what does is taste like? Here’s the lowdown on the gourmet cooking favourite…

What is a tonka bean and what do they taste like?

Tonka beans are a somewhat exotic ingredient that is becoming more and more common in home cupboards.

The beans are about an inch long and look similar to raisins in texture and are actually seeds from a type of flowering tree found in South America.

They are often used as a substitute for vanilla in recipes and have their own vanilla-like flavour – but with fruity, spicy notes.

Tonka beans pair well with chocolate as well as sweet fruits such as strawberries and is often used in puddings and in ice creams.

Tonka beans are not usually found in the supermarket, but many online specialists sell them.

Websites such as Sous Chef have the beans available, starting at £5 for 20g.

They are also available from various sellers on Amazon.

Interestingly, the beans are banned in the US.

This is because they contain courmarin, a naturally occurring chemical, that has been shown to cause liver problems in rats in extremely high doses.

As such, tonka beans have been banned by the FDA for sale in the US as a food item since the 1950s – even though you would have to ingest exceptionally high amounts of the bean to reach these levels and only very small shavings are typically used in cooking.

Apparently, some gourmet chefs even have “dealers” who smuggle it into the states.
