OUR Girl heartthrob Luke Pasqualino has revealed hit was actually his idea to leave the hit BBC drama in such an explosive ending.

The 27-year-old actor said he could have filmed more episodes for ‘Our Girl’ had it not been for his prior commitment to his other TV show Snatch.

All over for Elvis – fans were left devastated when he was killed off

Fans of the army drama were left devastated earlier this month when
hunky Special Forces solider Elvis Harte – played by Luke –
– was unexpectedly killed after he was blown up by a bomb.

This tragic twist came just moments after he proposed to his on/off girlfriend Georgie Lane (Michelle Keegan) – while on a mission.

But, although he had no choice but to bow out of the show because he’s tied to ‘Snatch’ for five years, Luke thinks he probably could’ve
stayed for a little longer because the hurricanes in Puerto Rico
delayed filming for the crime drama.

Fans were gripped to Georgie Lane and Elvis’ love story

Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: “Sony would only release me for four
episodes initially. Obviously, ‘Snatch’ got pushed [with season two
being delayed by hurricanes in Puerto Rico] so I probably could’ve
done more, but that was initially what it was.”

After his handsome alter-ego was killed off, fans threatened to
boycott the show, but Luke thinks they will forget all about it by the
time series four rolls around.

He explained: “The Elvis / Georgie relationship is gone now and that’s
a frustration for them. I don’t want Elvis to be forgotten about, but
I think they’ll be able to put it to one side and get used to the fact
that he’s not gonna be there.”

Fans are going to miss this face – and now Luke has revealed his exit was all his choice

However Luke revealed his tragic exit was all be his fault because he
was the one who suggested killing off Elvis in a dramatic explosive.

He said: “Tony and I sat down and we spoke about potential avenues
which we could explore for Elvis’s exit. I think I was the one who
first came up with the idea of killing him off and giving him this big
exit, and Tony liked the idea.

“Then we came up with the idea of Elvis and Georgie getting back
together – they’re gonna get married and they’re gonna live that happy
life that everybody wanted to see. But it wouldn’t be good drama if
everything was sunshine and rainbows, so we had to snatch it away from
the audience.”

Tests on volunteers found it increased the use of genes, enzymes and proteins which boost their metabolism.

Professor Jun Wu, of the Life Sciences Institute at Michigan University in the US, said: “Cinnamon has been part of our diets for thousands of years – and people generally enjoy it.

“So if it can help protect against obesity, too, it may offer an approach to metabolic health that is easier for patients to adhere to.”

She said as it’s already used widely in food it might be easier to convince patients to stick to a cinnamon-based treatment than to a traditional medicine.

The health benefits of cinnamon are no excuse for over indulging in egg-nog or mulled wine this Christmas[/caption]

But she warned against winter revellers loading their egg-nog or mulled wine with extra cinnamon to keep the Christmas pounds at bay.

Prof Wu said further studies are needed to determine how best to harness cinnamaldehyde’s metabolic benefits – without causing adverse side effects.

The spice has already been linked to reducing the risk of diabetes, cutting cholesterol, relieving symptoms of Alzheimer’s and staving off heart disease and cancer.

Cinnamaldehyde is the active compound in cinnamon – and is also responsible for the flavour that lifts dishes, mainly desserts.

The household ingredient could also aid those with Parkinson’s disease. Scientists said in 2014 the spice is the source of a chemical that can protect the brain.

Livers convert cinnamon into sodium benzoate – an approved drug used in the treatment for brain disorders.

In a study of mice the found it enters the brain, stops the loss of proteins, protects neurons and improves motor functions.
