CHELSEA and Liverpool have been given a boost in their attempts to sign Leon Goretzka, with the midfielder reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League.

According to Spanish news outlet Sport, despite the interest of Barcelona and Real Madrid, the 22-year-old favours a move to England.

This echoes statements from German legend Oliver Bierhoff who recently revealed that Goretzka would be on his way to British shores.

He said: “We feel that England, because of the amount of money you have with TV rights, young talented players like Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka are moving to England and this is not good for our league but also for the quality of our game.

“We have to pay attention and invest again and again in the education of our coaches.”

Bayern Munich are also believed to be in the hunt for his signature – adding to their wealth of German talent throughout their midst.

While Barcelona could turn to Goretzka should they fail to lure away Philippe Coutinho from Anfield, with Ernesto Valverde’s side set to test the Reds’ resolve in January.

‘LEON KING’ Leon Goretzka would be wasted at Manchester United and City… the Schalke midfielder ought to join Chelsea or Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp has identified the Confederations Cup winner as a possible replacement for Emre Can – the 23-year-old has been linked with move to Juventus.

But they face competition from Antonio Conte’s Blues, who are determined to bring in another central-midfielder alongside Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

While North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham also hold faint hopes of landing his services.

Goretzka has been in fine form this season, having already netted seven goals this season for club and country, helping the Royal Blues to sit fourth in the Bundesliga.

But Dortmund’s communications chief Sascha Fligge said: “He will definitely stay.

“There were some rumours about him going too, but they were just rumours. He is staying.”

Schalke, who sit second in the Bundesliga following Sunday’s 2-0 win over Hamburg, have declared their eagerness to take the midfield ace back.

Following a five-year stint with Rot-Weiss Essen, Ozil moved to the youth ranks of Schalke in 2005.

Ozil made 39 appearances for the German side, before completing a move to league rivals Werder Bremen three years later.

Real Madrid snapped him up in 2010 after he established himself as one of Europe’s top young talents during the South Africa World Cup.

After three successful years in Spain, the 29-year-old completed a £42.5million switch to Arsenal in 2013.

Ambitious Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies said: “I could very easily imagine Mesut returning to us, and it is the same for him.

LOVE NOT ENOUGH Arsene Wenger still fears Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will leave Arsenal

“If this became a possibility we would of course get busy with it.

“If there is a deal that suits everyone, then it would be a wonderful story.”

However, the 61-year-old ruled out the possibility of Ozil swapping the Emirates for the Veltins Arena during the January transfer window.

He added: “I am certain that no deal will take place during the course of this season.”

Ozil is due to return to Germany this week as Arsenal visit struggling Cologne in the Europa League on Thursday.

Barcelona are desperate to bolster their squad in January and Mesut Ozil has been earmarked as an alternative to Philippe Coutinho.

Aubameyang has been disciplined by the club after reportedly bringing a freestyle footballer friend into the club’s training ground unauthorised from him to record his latest film.

That led Bosz to leave him out of tonight’s squad, but his stance backfired as Dortmund failed to close the gap on leaders Bayern Munich.

The Ruhr valley club, firm title contenders only a few weeks ago with six wins from their first seven league matches, have lost their winning touch and are without a Bundesliga victory since September, piling pressure their on coach.

Dortmund, who take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League next week, are stuck on 20 points in third place with champions Bayern Munich, top on 26, taking on Augsburg on Saturday.

RB Leipzig, four points behind in second, travel to Bayer Leverkusen. Stuttgart, who have now won all of their 16 points this season at home, climbed to 11th.

A disastrous back pass from Marc Bartra allowed Chardac Akolo to slip in and put Stuttgart ahead in the fifth minute.

AUB OF ORDER Reason behind Aubameyang’s suspension revealed

Dortmund were in control and had their chances but with Aubameyang absent, they lacked his finish.

They still managed a late first-half equaliser with Maximilian Philipp scoring on the rebound after Andre Schuerrle’s penalty was saved.

But Josip Brekalo fired in through the legs of keeper Roman Buerki six minutes after the restart to restore their lead with a break that once again took the shaky Dortmund defence by complete surprise.

Eintracht had several more good chances to add to their tally with Brekalo and Berkay Ozcan as frustrated Dortmund ran out of gas.
