THE Bet365 Fillies’ Mile will end HAPPILY ever after.

Aidan O’Brien’s ace gave the boys a beating a French Group 1 at Chantilly on Arc day two weeks ago. That form makes her hard to beat returned to a race confined to her own sex.

1.50 NEWMARKET – ITV4: TO WAFIJ has ground to make up on Sound And Silence on their York form in August.

My fancy was only sixth behind the Godolphin youngster but today’s stiffer track will suit him much better.

PA

2.25 NEWMARKET – ITV4: GAVOTA lost her unbeaten record when third in the Rockfel over today’s course and distance two weeks ago.

But that was a cracking effort as she had nowhere to go before it was to late. Dark Rose Angel, Altyn Orda and I Can Fly head the dangers.

Templegate's TV tips

1.50 Newmarket – To Wafij: ‘Today’s track should really suit him’ (add to your betslip)

2.25 Newmarket – Gavota: ‘Cracking effort in defeat last time’ (add to your betslip)

2.45 York – Just Hiss: ‘I’m expecting him to go well again’ (add to your betslip)

3.00 Newmarket – Dabyah: ‘This trip is perfect for her’ (add to your betslip)

3.35 Newmarket – Happily: ‘Beat the boys last time and classy’ (add to your betslip)

3.55 York – The Grand Visir: ‘I’m sure he has a race like this in him’ (add to your betslip)

4.10 Newmarket – Humble Hero: ‘Today’s trip will suit’ (add to your betslip)

2.45 YORK – ITV4: JUST HISS beat Truth Or Dare at this track in July.

He gave it a good go returned here on his next start and last month’s close Haydock third shows he’s still in good form. I’m expecting him to go well again in a wide open race.

It will be interesting to see how Zabeel Prince copes with today’s faster ground after showing smart form on soft.

Dabyah
Dabyah can win the Challenge Stakes

3.00 NEWMARKET – ITV4: Have a Dab-ble in the Challenge Stakes.

DABYAH hasn’t been seen since finishing fourth behind star filly Winter in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The mile distance seemed to stretch her stamina and she should be better off returned to the same trip of her victory in Newbury’s Dubai Duty Free Stakes in April.

Limato is the class act having won a couple of Group 1s last season. His form in sprints this term is really good and he looks the main threat.

Happily already has two Group 1 wins to her name
Sportsfile

3.35 NEWMARKET – ITV4: HAPPILY should put a smile on our faces in the Fillies’ Mile.

She beat stablemate Magical in the Moyglare before beating the colts in a Chantilly Group 1 when upped to 1m in France last time.

Aidan O’Brien looks to have this prize by the conkers with Royal Ascot winner September a third string to his bow.

3.55 YORK – ITV4: Silvestre de Sousa should star on THE GRAND VISIR.

William Haggas’ hope probably raced too close to the pace when fifth in the Melrose over track and trip at the Ebor Meeting. I thought that was a decent effort and I’m sure he’s got a race like this in him.

Gold Star is progressing really well and he could easily be better than a handicapper.

4.10 NEWMARKET – ITV4: Stay Humble for this hot handicap.

HUMBLE HERO won well on the all-weather at Newcastle last month having disappointed over 1m6f on his previous start. Today’s distance with a decent gallop look ideal for William Haggas’ hope.

Torcello won well over track and trip last time but he’ll find it harder to dominate this contest.

Man City v Burnley betting preview: City to score 2+ goals in the second half (4/9)

Man City v Burnley

BREAKING down the so-called smaller teams is not an issue for Man City. They are unbelievable at the moment.

Burnley will drop deep and try to defend against City but the deeper sides drop, the more narrow they become.

That is when Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling, with their pace and skill down the wings, come into their own. They will get plenty of space as Burnley’s defence narrows and they are such a threat.

We’ve seen loads of goals from wide areas for City this. Sterling has six to his name already but I fancy Sane to get an assist.

City are so hard to defend against.

When you’re chasing the ball and you’re not touching it, when all you’re doing is moving from player to player trying to hold your position, you get tired and the first thing that goes is your concentration.

You have one lapse of concentration against Man City and the ball will end up in the back of the net.

It’s as simple as that.

Newcastle v Crystal Palace betting preview: Andros Townsend to score first (12/1)

Newcastle v Palace

UNDER Ronald de Boer, Crystal Palace were going nowhere – literally.

They were possession based and just knocked it around the back.

But things are different under Roy Hodgson. Now, they take two passes to move it forward instead of eight and that has liberated Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha.

As my graphic shows, they are both playing higher up the pitch and get the ball far quicker.

When you have the pace of Townsend and Zaha it means you can be more compact in defence and more direct going forward.

Hodgson did a brilliant job on Chelsea, getting his side to stop the champions at source.

And I fancy them for another fine win this weekend, with Townsend scoring first.

SUN BETS: BET £10 GET A FREE £30 BET

Spurs v Liverpool betting preview: Mo Salah to score anytime (21/10)

Liverpool v Spurs

IT HAS been said before but that does not make it any more important.

The big Wembley pitch really is an issue for Spurs.

They had one of the smallest pitches in the league last year but the extra space will play right into the hands of Liverpool, who will look to hit Tottenham on the counter.

Spurs were excellent against Real Madrid but they need to go on the front foot on Sunday and Liverpool will be happy to sit back.

For me, the dangerman for the Reds is Mo Salah.

He was brilliant against Man United last week and his pace will cause Spurs problems.

Salah’s movement is so good. He starts off on the right but then he drifts inside, as my graphic shows.

That causes all sorts of problems for the defence. The left back is forced onto his wrong foot and then the centre back has to decide whether to stick with his man or twist and go after Salah.

Either way, it means chances will be created.

I fancy both teams to score and Salah for an anytime goal.

THE Champions League has returned with the English teams, and Celtic, looking to take a big step towards the last 16.

With Man United, Chelsea, Barcelona and the Bhoys in action, Wednesday offers arguably the better night of football and an exciting night of betting.

Manchester United could offer value on their trip to Benfica

Benfica vs Manchester United

Man United have made light work of the Champions League since their return this year.

A 3-0 win over Basel was followed up by a 4-1 victory over CSKA in Moscow.

Benfica proved a banana skin for United when they knocked Sir Alex Ferguson’s teams out of the group stage in 2005 and 2011.

But there’s little chance of that happening this time.

The former European champs have been unbelievable poor in the competition so far, losing 2-1 at home to CSKA Moscow and 5-0 in Basel.

VERDICT: Man United to win to nil (21/10)

CSKA Moscow vs Basel

Probably the most important match in the group, both teams sit on three points having beaten Benfica and lost to Man United.

CSKA Moscow are in good form in Russia, if a little goal shy.

Meanwhile Basel go into this match on the back of a 4-0 domestic win in Lugano and a 5-0 victory over Benfica in the Champions League.

It’s a tough one to call, but the Russians at home are always a decent bet.

CSKA Moscow to shade it.

VERDICT: CSKA Moscow to win (Evens)

Anderlecht vs PSG

The last round of Champions League matches saw Group B take shape.

PSG’s 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich established them as the team to beat.

And Anderlecht’s 3-0 loss at home to Celtic means they look all set to be the whipping boys.

The Belgian side’s domestic form has picked up, but they aren’t going to spring a surprise here.

A PSG win is so inevitable that better value may be found in backing a specific goalscorer.

VERDICT: Thomas Meunier to score anytime (15/4)

Bet £10 on this tip and claim a FREE £30 bet

Bayern Munich vs Celtic

When the groups were drawn, this was arguably Celtic’s most daunting fixture.

But Brendan Rodgers’ men are definitely travelling to Munich at the right time, following Bayern’s capitulation against PSG and Carlo Ancelotti’s sacking.

Willy Sagnol has steadied the ship since taking caretaker charge, and the German champs secured an excellent 5-0 win over Freiburg at the weekend.

But the Bhoys will definitely expect to be more competitive than they were in their 5-0 drubbing by PSG on opening night.

And long odds on an away win could represent excellent value for more adventurous punters.

VERDICT: Celtic to win (28/1)

Qarabag vs Atletico Madrid

Qarabag opened up with an embarrassing 6-0 loss at a Chelsea fringe XI.

And things didn’t seem to be getting any better when they went 2-0 down to Roma after 15 minutes.

But they then got one back, proved they are a different prospect in Azerbaijan and were unlucky not to earn a point.

Meanwhile Atletico Madrid are playing for their lives following a last ditch loss at home to Chelsea.

Only a win to nil will be acceptable for Diego Simeone and Europe’s best defence.

VERDICT: Atletico Madrid to win to nil (7/10)

Chelsea vs Roma

Chelsea have had very little to shout about in the Premier League recently, but they are on course to easily make it through what could have been a tricky Champions League group.

A win at home to last season’s Serie A runners-up would put them well on course for an early qualification.

Roma have been something of an Italian Tottenham over the years, securing some impressive results but never quite making the impact they would like in Europe.

Victory at Stamford Bridge would be a huge milestone for Eusebio Di Francesco’s side and pile the pressure on Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.

But ultimately, the experience of Antonio Conte’s Blues should tell in West London.

VERDICT: Chelsea to win (4/6)

Juventus vs Sporting

Juventus are stuck in a mini-rut at the start of the season and trail Napoli by five points at the top of Serie A after a 2-1 loss at home to Lazio.

While they will be confident of turning that deficit around, it is in the Champions League where they have really failed to convince.

Massimo Allegri’s side were outclassed by Lionel Messi-inspired Barcelona in a 3-0 loss before securing a lucky 2-0 win over Olympiakos in their second match.

In contrast, Sporting have been impressive, easing past the Greeks away in their first match before succumbing to an unlucky 1-0 loss at home to Barcelona.

Even with the superior know how of the Old Lady at this level, the better value can be found by backing the Portuguese side.

VERDICT: Sporting to win (8/1)

Bet £10 on this tip and claim a FREE £30 bet

Barcelona vs Olympiakos

In contrast to the other match in Group E, there is little, if any, chance of an upset as Olympiakos visit the Nou Camp.

While Barcelona top La Liga by four points, the visitors sit 5th in a Greek league that is normally meat and drink to them.

Improved organisation has been provided by new boss Takis Lemonis after Besnik Hasi was sacked following their shambolic home loss to Sporting.

But unbeaten Barca should have few problems in what could be the biggest mismatch of the week.

Keeping the score down is the best Olympiakos can hope for.

VERDICT: Barcelona to win to nil (7/10)

CARLISLE

2.10 – Mullen’s star bet

WAZOWSKI was a decent performer at this level in the spring and has a good chance on this comeback from five months off.

He’s taken a little drop down the weights despite a good third at Cartmel last time and filling the same position here.

He’s got plenty of stamina and likes it soft, which is another plus.

2.45

VALZAN has been chasing in France with some success and it’s interesting to see him dropped into a novice hurdle on his first UK start.

His best form has come in testing ground and any market support would be interesting.

Getty Images

3.15

I JUST KNOW stays a bit further than this and that stamina will be an asset in soft ground around here.

He finished last season with an excellent third in a competitive Ayr contest after landing wins at Catterick and Doncaster. He goes well fresh so his six-month break is not a concern.

3.45

SLANELOUGH spent much of last season finishing second but there’s no doubting his backbone and he can strike on this comeback.

He stays well and won’t mind the ground, which is a plus. At just five, he is open to plenty of improvement too.

Mullen's star bet

2.10 Carlisle – Wazowski: ‘Decent performer at this level in the spring and has a good chance on this comeback from five months off’ (add to your betslip)

4.20

COWSLIP has worrying recent form but she has winning form over this course and distance. She has also tumbled down the weights and trainer Donald McCain has been in decent nick.

This is a poor contest and she should be in the shake-up.

4.50

DUBAI ANGEL looks ready for this step up in class after some excellent form last term when she was never out of the first two.

She had plenty in hand when winning on soft ground at Newcastle last time and has gone well here before.

5.25

MARY ELEANOR can put her experience to good use here. She showed lots of promise when third in a bunch finish on debut at Huntingdon on debut.

She then finished third at Newbury before a more modest effort at Bangor.

That was back in March and a repeat of her first outing would be good enough for this – with Richard Johnson on board for the first time since then.
