THE STATESMAN (1.55 Ludlow, nb) has blossomed on the Flat this season with wins at Sandown and Beverley last month.

If he translates that form to hurdles he will be too good for these.

EL PRINCIPE (4.20 Nottingham, treble) had plenty up his sleeve when winning at Carlisle last time out.

He kept pulling out more when challenged so a 4lb rise in the weights looks fair.

His Chepstow second eight days later was a solid effort but it’s not hard to think it came much sooner than ideal.

He’s had a nice break since and I’m confident he can defy a rise in the handicap.

PA

KEEPER HILL (1.25 Huntingdon, nb) has huge potential as a chaser. He was a useful novice hurdler last year and he had little trouble beating his sole rival on his chase debut.

A drop to 2m3f wasn’t helpful last time and he should show his true colours today.

TOP NOTCH (2.30 Huntingdon, treble) looked exactly that when scooting over the fences at Ascot last month. A repeat will be enough to follow up.
