THE STATESMAN (1.55 Ludlow, nb) has blossomed on the Flat this season with wins at Sandown and Beverley last month.

If he translates that form to hurdles he will be too good for these.

EL PRINCIPE (4.20 Nottingham, treble) had plenty up his sleeve when winning at Carlisle last time out.

He kept pulling out more when challenged so a 4lb rise in the weights looks fair.

PONTEFRACT

2.20

VENTURA CREST has a handy low draw and looks ready to win after going down in a photo at Redcar last time out.

He likes to go from the front, which is a decent tactic around here, and his rider’s claim leaves him on a fair mark.

2.50

SCENIC RIVER showed lots of promise on her debut at Haydock last month.

She cruised into contention before a lack of fitness seemed to tell inside the final furlong.

There should be a lot of improvement to come.

3.20

RASHFORD’S DOUBLE has been running better than his form figures suggest and he went close a couple of times last month.

He has dropped down the weights and should be competitive in an open race.

3.50

OLD PERSIAN was very impressive at Newmarket last time and can strike again despite a modest draw.

He didn’t have to hit top gear to win convincingly at HQ after also scoring at Chelmsford.

There should be more to come on just his fourth outing.

4.20

It’s interesting that a 7lb claimer has been booked for the Flat debut of handicap hurdler ARISTO DU PLESSIS. T

his could just be a pipe-opener for the new jumps season but this trip takes some getting in the wet at Pontefract so his stamina could well come into play.

4.50 – Mullen’s star bet
MINOTAUR found 1m4f very much on the short side at Leicester last time but he still ran well enough to finish fourth.

That first run after a long break should see him spot on with the step up in distance also in his favour.

5.20

ROYAL BRAVE could be the answer to this tough handicap given he has a very handy draw.

He has been pretty consistent this term and even though he was sixth at York last time it was a good effort and he was far from disgraced. The trip suits and he goes on any ground.

Steve Mullen's star bet

4.50 Pontefract – Minotaur: ‘He should be spot on for this with the step up in distance also in his favour’ (add to your betslip)

WINDSOR

1.40 Sienna Says

2.10 Haulani

2.40 Miracle Music

3.10 Golden Wedding

3.40 Awesome Allan

4.10 It’s How We Roll

4.40 Green Howard

5.10 Betsalottie

PLUMPTON

2.30 Action Replay

3.00 Money For Nothing

3.30 Cheque En Blanc

4.00 Ballinure

4.30 Beneficial Joe

5.00 Crafty Roberto

5.30 My Lord

When is Josh Warrington vs Dennis Ceylan?

THE bout is on Saturday night, October 21.

It will be hosted at First Direct Arena in Leeds.

Josh Warrington vs Dennis Ceylan betting tips and odds

There is plenty of hype around Josh Warrington thanks to his affiliation with sleeping football giant Leeds United and he will be roared on to victory in his home town this weekend.

The IBF final featherweight eliminator should be decided by the Englishman’s sheer size and fitness rather than sublime skill.

The biggest test of his career so far came last time out against Kiko Martinez and he was fortunate to get a majority decision, again on home soil, leaving question marks over his world-class status.

Dane fighter Ceylan is not great but he is game and dogged and should be resilient enough for Warrington to put on another show before winning on points.

When is Ryan Burnett vs Zhanat Zhakiyanov?

THE bout is on Saturday night, October 21.

It will be hosted at SSE Arena in Belfast.

Ryan Burnett vs Zhanat Zhakiyanov betting tips & odds

Belfast IBF champ Burnett is chasing unification glory when he faces the WBA boss of the division.

There will be very few surprises in the ring as these two know each other inside out, which should make for a thrilling fight.

Both were trained by British hero Ricky Hatton – and sparred together – before the Irishman switched camp in 2015 for Adam Booth’s London base.

Zhakiyanov, 33, has admitted that Burnett dominated those practice rounds but he insists they count for nothing when the real show starts.

Hatton predictably believes his man will triumph but only in the latter rounds if Burnett has not nailed him early doors.

But knock-out power is not in 25-year-old Burnett’s arsenal as six of his last wins have come from the judges as the quality of his opponents has increased.

A tasty 18 of Zhakiyanov’s 27 wins have come from KOs and there is big value in him winning that way again with a points win on Burnett’s Irish turf seems unlikely.
